Yemaya, Star of the Sea. An amalgam of the different ways in which this Yoruba Orisha of the Ocean and the Waves is viewed, on different shores. Some Candomble elements there, along with the Asian/South Indian elements. Mostly, my visualization of how she'd appear on Asian shores.
Yes, it really did take that long to finish it, mostly because I was too frightened to finish it. Then, it got to the stage where I *had* to finish it. The first of my Promises to Keep series. You may notice it is very different from the earlier version. I'm happier with this one, it is more hybrid and appropriate. I was going for an abstract, batik-like feel for it, am moderately pleased with the result, even if I have not reached my goal, yet.
