Finally finished! This is my first painting here in Brisbane. Part of a series of paintings inspired by the elements, this is a natural progression from the decision I made when I painted Flame and Grain to "unshackle" myself and go fully abstract and dive straight into the dangerous world of patterns without discernible anthropomorphic referents. Well, I guess they're still there, but you'll have to look for it.
Also, I had to photograph this with my Olympus because I don't have a scanner, and even if I did, this covered an entire A3 sheet of art paper.
I like the ornate-ness of it; it's soothing and very evocative of a work of myth in itself. Shame the photo is so blurry though, full view makes me kind of dizzy :/ If you get near a scanner it's no big deal to do a double pass scan and then "glue" them back together in Photoshop. I used to do that all the time when I was drawing more often. Will try and reply to your emails tonight too
